An old-fashioned--in the best sense of that term--downtown hotel: high ceilings and carved woodwork in the meeting rooms, for example. However, the pool, the restaurant, and above all the staff, are up to the minute.
I had forgotten to bring a printout of my speech, and discovered that my flashdrive was corrupted. Though the hotel's 'public' computers had no capability to accept my 'second backup' SD card, staffer Matthew took the card, did some magic behind the scenes, and produced a printout--no cost. Matthew also saw to it that I received a room discount based on my former military service.
Other staffers were outstandingly friendly and helpful, not one of them ever exhibiting that coldly courteous, almost robotic demeanor that I find so off-putting at some big-city hotels. Breakfasts are included in the room charge; unlike some places offering a 'Continental' breakfast, this one is warm, with a large variety of choices. Dining room staff were every bit as helpful, friendly, and eager to care for the guest's needs and wants as the front desk staff. Management of this hotel clearly works hard to provide guests a positive experience, and staff attitudes reflect that.
Room Tip: My room was 9th floor, south-facing, with a breath-taking panoramic view of Bald Eagle Mountain acro...
Just checked into this lovely hotel. Room is just right. The staff are very accommodating. What a great alternative to the chain hotels in the area. I also understand that the 11th floor is haunted. Wish I were staying for more than one night!
The hotel itself is rich with history and has a charm not seen in most hotels. It has a prime location with plenty of options for leisure and functionality.
he decor screams of it's history with antiques and collectibles from the hotel in glass cases. The service is excellent. The staff friendly and informative. The restaurant has excellent food and service. The room was clean and well maintained. The beds are comfortable. I was ready to move in for good.
Room Tip: Poolside rooms are quiet and have a more apartment like feel, and they get the afternoon sun.
My Son and I stayed at this hotel at the end of June for the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War annual encampment (convention). We had a really nice stay and would recommend this place to just about anyone.
We stayed in room 107 which is by the pool. (The pool was clean and fun) Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Air conditioning worked great on a hot weekend. The only thing I noticed was that the bathroom was in need of an update. Mind you, everything worked correctly, but the tub, sink and fixtures could use a freshening up.
The nice thing about this hotel is that everything is in a central location. Our meeting / banquet rooms, elevators, restaurant and front desk are all close to each other. The meeting rooms I was in for our encampment were nicely adorned, clean and functional. The sound system worked in each room and the staff did a nice job setting things up. We did experience one problem in one of the rooms though. They couldn't seem to get the A/C to work real well and so it was a bit hot in there. On the whole, the meeting rooms were very good!
I noticed that all of the staff from the hotel were friendly and spoke to me each time I passed with a "hello" or a "have a nice day". This seemed genuine and I liked it. These folks were doing a good job and felt good about spending my money there. The people at the front desk were very helpful (especially John) and patient as I had several questions about local attractions and stores etc.
Be sure to take advantage of the free breakfast! You will have lots to choose from, it is delicious and it is included with your room cost.
One last thing, if you are a history buff, this is a place of history. Be sure to note carefully the photos and decorations throughout the lobby level. These have been a lot of well known people who visited / stayed at this hotel over the years. If you are in Williamsport, stop and get a room at the Genetti.
It would be impossible to have had a better stay at the Genetti Hotel. We were in town overnight for a funeral, with arrangements made at the last minute.
The staff at the hotel, from the reservations assistant on the phone to the registration desk people, to the staff in the hotel, were accommodating and friendly. The room was amazingly beautiful, clean, comfortable, and quiet. It's an historic hotel with modern amenities. The breakfast buffet was delicious and full of comfort foods. I truly appreciate the care this hotel and staff provided during our stay.
Room Tip: I think any room in this hotel would be comfortable.
Stayed here overnight for a banquet and this is quite a nostalgic place. Lots of history in every corner as it is old but kept up well.
Great food and bar setup too. Overall the room was fine. Other than the bathroom being dated and small everything was clean with beds and furniture very comfortable. It's a friendly, happy place to be as we enjoyed our stay and will return.
Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor and had a great view of the southwest of the city.
From the first phone call to the final checkout, the service was impeccable. These are not just employees, they are like family. Honestly! Every person we encountered was cheerful, helpful and just darned NICE.
This is not a cookie-cutter chain hotel. It is gorgeous and charming and just plain quirky. Our room was nice and large, with a mini fridge, microwave and a coffee maker. There were not quite enough outlets in the room, but it was no big deal. The bed was comfy and well made with an inspirational card on the pillow, wishing us peace and happiness (see the picture). That was genuinely heartwarming, and I am not a sappy person! Overall the room was clean. The bathroom was dated. But it was extremely clean and did the best with the space that it could. Have to remember this hotel is from the 1920's. Big luxurious bathrooms didn't really exist. The hotel has done the best they can with this limitation!
Because of the weather, we ate in the restaurant. It was new years eve and they were having a buffet. It was "eh". For some odd reason, everything was super peppery. I like pepper, but it was like everything had 3 times more than it needed. Odd. My husband ordered off the regular menu and it was above average. The breakfast, however, was awesome. If I lived in that town, I would make it a destination. They have this beautiful breakfast buffet every morning, with really exceptional quality breakfast offerings.
Being NYE, it was busy and was really rocking. We could hear the party from the 5th floor, but it was faint. On a normal night I can't imagine one would hear a peep. The lobby was gorgeously decorated, and there is memorabilia and interesting stuff to see in every nook, crannie and hallway.
I would give this place 6 stars if I could. We will be back!
The Genetti is a charming historical place to stay with charm and modern amenities. Cannot say enough about the staff, they were extremely friendly and helpful! Pet friendly.. The breakfast was excellent with a nice variety of hot dishes. Love the history of the hotel.
